CONCEAL CARRY CLASS
FOCUS FOR THIS CLASS:
This class is focused on being educational, fun, and making the student knowledgeable about the basics of safely handling small arms weapons (a.k.a., hand guns). Prior firearms experience is not required.
WHAT TO BRING:
1. Students should wear closed-toed shoes.
2. Students may bring hearing and eye protection with them, or purchase them at the range day of class.
3. Students are welcome to bring a notebook and writing tool (pen or pencil).
4. Students are welcome to bring food and drink.
5. Students are welcome to bring their own handgun and ammunition. If they do not bring a handgun, they may use one of the range firearms but will need to purchase the ammunition for it.
CLASS TIMES:
1. The class will normally take 3-3.5 hours.
2. Students attending the class at the range at 4859 Virginia Beach Blvd (just west of Virginia Beach's Town Center) should arrive between 8:40 and 8:55 a.m. Class starts at 9:00 a.m. (Please park in the parking lot provided behind the store.)
3. Students attending the class at the range at 2664 Lishelle Ave. (near Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach) should arrive between 5:00 and 5:20 p.m. Class starts at 5:30 p.m. Students who arrive after 5:30 p.m. may be asked to reschedule at the instructor's and range staff's discretion.
THE INSTRUCTORS:
Neal J is the Lead Instructor. His experiences include:
- 0ver 20 years experience as a Range Master and Safety Officer at Superior Pawn and Gun
- 0ver 15 years experience as a National Rifle Association (NRA) certified instructor
- Retired Navy officer (earned the Navy Expert Pistol Medal)
- Over 6 years experience as a Navy Officer directly involved in Small Arms Operations onboard ships, as a Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS), Navy Instructor, Course Officer, selected as an Officer Instructor of the Year, Training Division Officer and Training Department Head
- Managed Training and Development programs at the Ford Motor Company's Norfolk Assembly Plant for over 11 years
- Taught Human Resources Management (HRM) for over 6 years in an online Master of Science in Operations Management (MSOS) degree program at a major midwestern university.
John S.'s experiences include:
- Retired USMC
- Certified military Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor (SAMI)
- United States Concealed Carry Association Instructor (USCCA)
- National Rifle Association (NRA) Chief Range Safety Officer, Advanced Pistol Instructor, and Training Counselor.
Diane's experiences include:
- Certified USCCA Instructor and has been teaching for two years
- 6 year (and growing) shooting journey
- Registered Nurse (RN) who has been teaching at the Community College level for 30 years
- Certified in Women's Handgun and Self Defense Fundamentals
- Completed Pistol Foundations 101
- Completed Overcome and Survive Workshop with Jason Redman (Retired Navy SEAL).
Michael W's experiences include:
- USCCA Certified Firearms Instructor
- U.S. Army veteran with six years of service
- Devoted husband and father of three who brings a family-centered perspective to firearm safety and personal protection
